SEMFIRA/EMF

During various joining activities, electromagnetic fields can arise and affect the health of workers. There is, therefore, a worldwide effort to protect workers as best as possible from the effects of such fields by setting limit values and through uniform standardisation and occupational health and safety measures. The DVS supports these measures, among other things, by founding the “SEMFIRA/EMF” in 2007. SEMFIRA stands for “Safety in ElectroMagnetic Fields – International Research Association”.

The “SEMFIRA/EMF” in the DVS is committed to the technical-scientific development on the topic of “Electromagnetic Fields (EMF)” in the interest of the general public.

Tasks and fields of activity of the professional association include:

  • Technical and financial support of committee work on the topic of EMF
  • Pursuit of technical concerns with regard to occupational safety and health and environmental protection
  • Support of public relations work, as well as technical support of DVS publications on the subject of EMF.

An essential goal of the professional association is to promote and bundle national and international work in the field of EMF, to avoid duplication of work and to use synergy effects.

Among other things, it brings together the technical-scientific activities of DVS and other cooperation partners at national and international level in the field of rules and regulations and represents them as a holistic concept vis-à-vis the professional world and the public.
