The GeniusHWI, SiniusHWI and AnalogHWI product ranges offer the option of a power increase by means of a slave power unit (from power class 240 kVA).

Master-slave operation is particularly suitable for applications that require a higher welding current. Systems with 250 kA output current have proven themselves in practice.

The master operates e.g. as GeniusHWI Basic or GeniusHWI Professional in the proven manner, but additionally takes over the controlling of the connected slave inverters. Here, system messages of each connected slave inverter are monitored and lead to the shutdown of the entire system in the event of an error.

The slave inverter consists of a power section and the control electronics of the power IGBTs. In addition, signal amplification is integrated in the slave inverter. It is thus a parallel-connected power stage. Up to five inverters can be connected in parallel. If more than five inverters are needed, an additional line amplifier is required.

When designing the machine, ensure that the resistance ratios of the connections to the MF transformers are the same. This means that the connecting cables of the individual MF transformers must have the same cable lengths and cross-sections. This ensures that the current is distributed evenly to the transformers and inverters.
