Standardisation in welding on a national level

At this point, our small welding lexicon does not provide information about a direct welding topic or a technical term, but about standardisation work. This is at least as important as the pure technical work. The resistance world is active there through the standards committee presented here and the technical work in the DVS. The Welding Standards Committee (NAS, NA 092) at DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. V. is responsible for national standardisation and represents German standardisation interests at European level (CEN) in CEN/TC 121 “Welding” and CEN/TC 240 “Thermal spraying and thermally sprayed coatings” and at international level (ISO) in ISO/TC 44 “Welding and allied processes”.

The NAS comprises the following subject areas: Welding, thermal cutting, thermal spraying, soldering, bonding and mechanical joining. Standards are developed on the subjects of bases of understanding, testing and assessment of personnel, procedure qualification, filler metals for welding, brazing and thermal spraying, quality requirements, destructive and non-destructive test methods, occupational health and safety requirements and equipment for welding, thermal cutting and thermal spraying.
