Testing during resistance welding

In addition to radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing and dye penetrant testing, the working group also deals with ultrasonic testing of resistance pressure welded joints. In addition, metallographic investigations such as the production of macrosections and microsections and hardness testing are the subject of the work programme of WG V 3.9.

In addition to the development of DVS leaflets, the work organisation of WG V 3.9 focuses on the processing of ISO, CEN and DIN standards. In this context, WG V 3.9 closely co-operates with the ISO working group ISO/TC 44/SC 6 “Resistance welding” and the CEN working group CEN/TC 121/SC4/WG2 “Quality assurance in resistance welding” as well as Commission III of the International Institute of Welding (IIW). The testing standards being developed in the international (IIW, ISO), European (CEN) and national (DIN) area are dealt with in WG V 3.9 and provided with a vote.

Further tasks of WG V 3.9 are the exchange of experience on welding technology problems, technology transfer for medium-sized companies and the transfer of information via the Research Committee FA 4 “Resistance welding”. The meetings of the working group take place twice a year (spring and autumn meeting) in a time frame of one and a half days at the invitation of working group members or other companies or institutions of interest to the working group.
