Working Group AG V 11 – Friction welding

Within the Technical Committee of DVS (German Welding Society), Working Group V 11 deals with the topics of linear and rotary friction welding, as well as friction stir welding. The group is divided for these two procedures. The joint committee DVS/DIN-AG V 11.1 / NA 092-00-24 AA deals with linear and rotary friction welding. This working group V 11.1 – Friction Welding pursues the objective of offering an up-to-date information platform on friction welding in DVS. The meetings of WG V 11.1 serve to exchange experiences. An examination of the changing technological standards, as well as the latest developments on the subject of friction welding, enables the participants to deepen the knowledge required in their specialist field. In addition, proposals for future research topics are taken up from the field in WG V 11.1, discussed and forwarded to the responsible committees.

The tasks of the working group include the development of DVS leaflets and guidelines on the subject of friction welding, as well as collaboration on international standards.

The subject of friction stir welding is dealt with by the joint committee DVS/DIN-AG V 11.2/ NA 092-00-27 AA. This working group V 11.2 “Friction Stir Welding” has set itself the goal of promoting the application of the process with its technological and economic advantages, and to provide the industry and training centres with the corresponding information and aids for this purpose.

First steps are the preparation of leaflets, a data collection on friction stir welding applications, contributions to national and international standardisation and to other codes of practice, as well as the preparation of a presentation / teaching document on friction stir welding.
