DVS Working Group 3.1

DVS Working Group V 3 “Resistance Welding” is composed of 8 working groups (V 3.1 – V 3.10) dealing with the manifold issues of resistance welding technology. These DVS working groups work as joint committees together with the Welding Standards Committee NAS, which is also presented. The first working group V 3.1 deals with “flash butt welding, pressure butt welding and pressure welding with magnetically moved arc”. The main areas of responsibility are:

Industrial applications e.g:

  • Flash butt welding of chains, rails, rings, axles, …
  • Pressure butt welding of strips and profiles, e.g. rims and rings, …
  • Pressure welding with magnetically moving arc (MBP), e.g. pipes and pipe connections, …
  • Welding suitability of materials
  • Innovative welding technology (e.g. percussion welding)
  • Controls and quality assurance technology for the above processes
  • Construction suitable for joining
